Watch for the Good Citizenship Awards to six area High Schools and Bronze JROTC Medals to four of the area's best JROTC programs. Compatriot Stephen Slinkard will present the SAR's JROTC Bronze Medal to Cadet Caleb A. Truman for exemplary discipline and leadership. Cadet Truman is a member of the Farmington AFJROTC.
On 20 April, our chapter presented the SAR's Life Saving Award to three of Cape Girardeau's finest policemen. At noon at 2530 Maria Louise Ln., Police Headquarters, we will be presenting to Corporal Larry "Will" Rogers, Patrolman Brian McCain, and Patrolman Joel Koesterer.
Their actions on 27 January, 2023, in investigating an apparently abandoned vehicle resulted in locating a disabled and disoriented individual located in a ditch in frigid water. Without their diligence and quick action, this missing man from Illinois probably would not have survived.
We will be marking the grave of William R. Brown in the Roth Cemetery. The ceremony will be at 4 pm on 27 May. This is following the Plaque presentation in Ste. Genevieve at 2pm. There will be Color Guardsmen from five neighboring states, so we should have a nice contingent to help celebrate with a gun volley graveside.
