FUTURE MEETINGS

Our next regular meeting will be at 6pm on 15 April, 2024. We will discuss our events coming up for this year.  Additionally, our guest speaker will be Richard Young who will talk about Cave Exploration.  Our meetings are generally on the third Monday of each month (except July and August) at 6 pm at Delmonico's, 2951 Old Orchard Road, Jackson, MO.

Other Events

On 20 April, our chapter presented the SAR's Life Saving Award to three of Cape Girardeau's finest policemen.  At noon at 2530 Maria Louise Ln., Police Headquarters, we will be presenting to Corporal Larry "Will" Rogers, Patrolman Brian McCain, and Patrolman Joel Koesterer.

Their actions on 27 January, 2023, in investigating an apparently abandoned vehicle resulted in locating a disabled and disoriented individual located in a ditch in frigid water.  Without their diligence and quick action, this missing man from Illinois probably would not have survived.

We  marked the grave of Revolutionary Patriot and soldier William R. Brown in the Roth Cemetery on 27 May.  The video of this ceremony, taken and produced by Michael Toeniskoetter, is on our Home page on this website.  This was following the Plaque presentation in Ste. Genevieve at 2pm for 10 other Patriots who fought in the Battle of St. Louis (Fort San Carlos).  There were Color Guardsmen from five neighboring states, so we had a nice contingent to help celebrate with a gun volley graveside.

Our chapter participated in the Olde Capetown "Parade of Lights" on Nov 26th.  Our float depicted Rev Soldiers around a campfire with festive lights and artificial flames.

Our next event will be on 16 Dec at the cemeteries in Jackson, MO where we will place a wreath at the Rev Patriot's grave of Robert Brevard.  At the Old Jackson cemetery, we will be on hand to help serve hot chocolate as provided by the John Guild Chapter of the DAR to all the Wreaths Across America volunteers.  Separately, as the SAR, we will place a Wreath at the Uriah Brock gravesite in Old Lorimer in Cape.  Coincidentially, Dec 16 is also the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party which will be honored as well.
